Cookie Policy

Last updated: 5 June 2026

In short: we use strictly necessary storage to make the site work, plus — only if you consent — Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage. Nothing non-essential runs until you choose, and you can change your mind anytime via “Cookie Settings” in the footer.

1. How we handle consent

UKTeachingJobs uses Google Consent Mode v2. When you arrive, all analytics and advertising storage is set to denied by default — so no analytics cookies are placed until you accept. Our banner lets you accept or reject by category, and we record your choice (and the date) so we can apply it and re-ask only if this policy materially changes. We also honour your browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where present.

2. Strictly necessary storage

These are exempt from consent because the site can’t work as expected without them. We use the browser’s local storage (a privacy-friendlier alternative to cookies):

3. Analytics — only with your consent

With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate usage (page views, referrers, approximate location, device type). If you don’t consent, Google Analytics runs in cookieless mode (no cookies, only anonymous, aggregated pings) or not at all. These cookies are set only after you accept:

NameTypeProviderPurposeExpiry
_gaCookieGoogle AnalyticsDistinguishes unique visitors to measure aggregate site usage.2 years
_ga_<id>CookieGoogle AnalyticsMaintains session state for Google Analytics 4.2 years

4. Advertising

We do not currently serve ads or use advertising cookies. If we introduce advertising (e.g. Google AdSense) in future, those cookies will be set only with your consent, we’ll list them here, and EEA/UK visitors will be served through a certified consent management platform. The “Advertising” toggle in our banner controls this.

5. Managing your choices

Open “Cookie Settings” in the footer at any time to review or change your consent — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings; clearing necessary storage simply resets features like your saved comparison.

6. Changes

If we change the cookies we use, we’ll update this policy and — where consent is required — re-display the banner so you can choose again before any new cookies are set.
