Cookie Policy
Last updated: 5 June 2026
1. How we handle consent
UKTeachingJobs uses Google Consent Mode v2. When you arrive, all analytics and advertising storage is set to denied by default — so no analytics cookies are placed until you accept. Our banner lets you accept or reject by category, and we record your choice (and the date) so we can apply it and re-ask only if this policy materially changes. We also honour your browser’s Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal where present.
2. Strictly necessary storage
These are exempt from consent because the site can’t work as expected without them. We use the browser’s local storage (a privacy-friendlier alternative to cookies):
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| consent | Local storage | UKTeachingJobs | Stores your cookie choices (analytics / advertising) and when you made them, so we apply them and don’t ask again. | Until you clear it |
| compare_urns | Local storage | UKTeachingJobs | Remembers the schools you’ve added to the comparison tool. | Until you clear it |
3. Analytics — only with your consent
With your consent we use Google Analytics 4 to measure aggregate usage (page views, referrers, approximate location, device type). If you don’t consent, Google Analytics runs in cookieless mode (no cookies, only anonymous, aggregated pings) or not at all. These cookies are set only after you accept:
| Name | Type | Provider | Purpose | Expiry |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| _ga | Cookie | Google Analytics | Distinguishes unique visitors to measure aggregate site usage. | 2 years |
| _ga_<id> | Cookie | Google Analytics | Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. | 2 years |
4. Advertising — only with your consent
We show ads from Google AdSense to help keep this service free. With your consent, Google and its certified advertising partners may set cookies to serve and measure ads, including personalised ads. Until you consent, Google Consent Mode v2 keeps advertising storage denied, so you’ll see only non-personalised ads or none. EEA/UK visitors are asked through Google’s certified consent management platform. You can change your choice any time via “Cookie Settings”, and manage Google ad personalisation in Google’s Ad Settings.
5. Managing your choices
Open “Cookie Settings” in the footer at any time to review or change your consent — withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it. You can also clear or block cookies and local storage in your browser settings; clearing necessary storage simply resets features like your saved comparison.
6. Changes
If we change the cookies we use, we’ll update this policy and — where consent is required — re-display the banner so you can choose again before any new cookies are set.
