Support for Learning Assistant

Job DescriptionSupport for Leaning Assistant (Advanced) Langlees Early Learning and Childcare Centre Post ID CS2106 Falkirk Children’s Services is seeking to employ a Support for Learning Assistant at Langlees ELC Centre to provide support for learning resource aimed at delivering continuity for children and allowing for further service improvement. You will undertake a range of support activities including general supervision of children to ensure their safety and well-being. You may be required to provide more intensive support for children with additional support needs to ensure that individual plans are carried out regularly and efficiently. Support for Learning Assistants are crucial to the successful delivery of our services to children and are valued team members in many of our settings. This role requires you to work as part of a busy team of staff, so good communication skills are essential for this post. You should possess a positive, can-do attitude and be flexible in your approach. All support workers must have either obtained the benchmark qualification for their role or, be working towards meeting the qualification condition required as part of your registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC). If you have to achieve the benchmark qualification you will have three years in which to do so, and this would be through achieving the SVQ Social Services (Children and Young People) SCQF Level 6. Successful candidates must register with the SSSC within 3 months of starting in their role and will gain registration within six months. The post at Langlees is part time (20 hours – Wednesday afternoon and full days Thursday and Friday), term time plus summer holidays and is permanent within Falkirk Council. Please note the salary will be adjusted pro-rata accordingly for part time and term time working. If you are the successful candidate, you will be required to gain/maintain PVG scheme membership.
