About the role

As a SEND Teacher, you will deliver engaging, personalised lessons that support pupils with Autism and Special Educational Needs to make exceptional progress both academically and socially. Working alongside therapists, support staff and families, you will create meaningful learning experiences that enable pupils to thrive and prepare for successful futures.

You will:

Plan and deliver high-quality lessons tailored to individual pupil needs.

Use autism enablement strategies to maximise engagement, independence and achievement.

Assess, monitor and track pupil progress, implementing interventions where required.

Work collaboratively with teaching assistants, therapists and academy leaders.

Build positive relationships with families and external professionals.

Contribute to a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment.

Support pupils' academic, emotional and social development.

About the successful candidate

We are looking for someone who:

Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Has experience teaching pupils with Autism and/or SEND.

Demonstrates a strong understanding of autism-friendly teaching approaches and intervention strategies.

Has a proven track record of raising pupil achievement and engagement.

Is an excellent classroom practitioner with high expectations for every learner.

Communicates effectively with pupils, families and colleagues.

Brings energy, resilience, creativity and a positive outlook to their work.

About the School

SAIL (Salisbury Academy for Inspiration Learners) is a day specialist provider of education in Salisbury, Wiltshire for children and young people aged from 4 to 19 years who have a diagnosis of autism or an SEMH profile.

SAIL’s aim is to build safe independent lives for the autistic and SEMH population through a process of understanding, support, and enablement. To achieve this goal the school will look at the unique impact autism and social, emotional, and mental health experiences has on the individual child. From this we aim as a school to personalise the child’s curriculum, care, and therapeutic package to ensure every child achieves and experiences success and independence.

This key intent is underpinned by a number of principles. We will ensure that all children make progress, we build and foster positive relationships with parents and carers, put pupil voice at the heart of everything and support all children so they trust, feel safe and secure. This is achievable due to the dedication and support from a range of employed professionals who are passionate, reliable and understanding including dedicated education, care and therapeutic teams.
