Apprentice ICT Technician

Christ the King College is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Apprentice ICT Technician to join our technical support team. This role offers an incredible pathway to gain hands-on experience in a vibrant educational setting while working toward your Level 3 Information Communications Technician qualification.

The main purpose of this job is to provide technical support and maintain the ICT infrastructure and facilities across the entire College. Working under the guidance and support of our Senior IT Technician, you will resolve routine IT issues, contribute to new projects, and handle day-to-day technical duties while expanding your skill set.

Key Responsibilities

1. User Support: Provide friendly 1st line IT support to both staff and students, ensuring all technical requests are logged accurately within our Helpdesk System.
2. Hardware Maintenance: Assist with setting up new machines, swapping faulty devices, basic fault-finding, and performing regular maintenance to ensure all computer equipment runs smoothly.
3. Event & AV Support: Support the College's audio-visual systems, helping to resolve issues with projectors, interactive televisions, and whiteboards, as well as assisting with tech setups for school events such as open and parents' evenings.
4. Asset Management: Assist in keeping an accurate equipment register of all valuable ICT resources, including carrying out portable appliance testing (PAT) and security marking.
5. Compliance & Safety: Ensure systems and software are implemented in line with the College's IT policy, and remain aware of and advise your line manager on all Health and Safety matters relating to IT.

We are seeking an aspiring IT professional who has a genuine passion for technology and a strong desire to learn and develop their technical skills in line with the apprenticeship framework. The ideal candidate will be a committed team player, ready to complete their apprenticeship coursework diligently while providing flexible support to the wider College staff when needed. Because you will be interacting with students and staff daily, we are looking for someone who takes pride in their personal presentation, maintains excellent attendance and punctuality, and acts as a positive role model within our school community. You must possess the discretion required to handle a school environment with absolute confidentiality, a proactive attitude toward problem-solving, and a thorough commitment to health, safety, and safeguarding procedures. Above all, you should be enthusiastic about working in an educational community and fully prepared to work in harmony with the distinctive mission, ethos, and values of Christ the King College.
