Attendance and Pupil Support Officer

Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College · Ossett · Wakefield

Job description

Are you passionate about making a positive difference in young people’s lives? Ossett Academy and Accord Sixth Form are seeking to appoint a proactive, compassionate, and driven Attendance & Pupil Support Officer, to support pupils and families by promoting high levels of attendance and encouraging pupils to achieve their full potential.

In this vital role, you will bridge the gap between home and education, building trusted relationships with families and pupils to break down barriers to learning. With a strong focus on reducing persistent absences, particularly among our most disadvantaged and vulnerable pupils, you will collaborate closely with Pastoral Year Leaders, external agencies and our dedicated inclusion teams, to review individual pupils’ attendance and deliver targeted, high-impact attendance strategies and incentive schemes.

If you are an exceptional communicator who can have challenging conversations with empathy and diplomacy, we’d love to hear from you.

The position is on a full-time basis working Monday to Thursday 8.00am to 4.00pm and Friday 8.00am to 3.30pm, with a half an hour unpaid lunch break per day.

We are confident that new staff joining our Trust will feel welcomed and happy to have chosen us. Prospective applicants are welcome to visit prior to applying.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a forward-thinking, ambitious team in a welcoming, friendly school. We strive to create an environment where pupils enjoy learning and are given opportunity to stretch themselves both academically and also through a wide range of other extra-curricular activities. Our success is founded on traditional values set in a warm friendly environment.
