Job description
This role is term time plus two week.
We are seeking a proactive and dedicated Attendance Officer to play a key role in improving student attendance and engagement across the school. This role is vital in promoting a positive culture of attendance and ensuring the school meets statutory attendance requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and manage daily student attendance, ensuring registers are accurate and compliant with statutory guidance.
- Act as a key point of contact for attendance matters, working closely with parents/carers to follow up on absences and lateness.
- Identify patterns of poor attendance and work proactively with students, families, and staff to improve engagement and attendance outcomes.
- Coordinate targeted interventions for students with persistent absence, including arranging meetings, action plans, and follow-up support.
- Conduct home visits where appropriate to strengthen relationships with families and address barriers to attendance.
- Work collaboratively with safeguarding, pastoral, and senior leadership teams to respond to welfare concerns linked to attendance.
- Liaise with external agencies, including the Local Authority and other support services, to ensure appropriate support and compliance with attendance regulations.
- Support formal attendance processes, including the preparation of documentation for penalty notices and other enforcement actions where necessary.
- Maintain accurate attendance records and produce regular reports to support monitoring and strategic decision-making.
- Promote a positive culture of attendance and punctuality across the school community.
