Hadrian Learning Trust · Hexham · Northumberland

Job description

We are a forward-thinking Multi Academy Trust comprising Queen Elizabeth High School and Hexham Middle School and are looking to appoint a dedicated Attendance Officer to join our team on a fixed-term basis. This is a highly rewarding role where you will make a real difference to young people and their educational outcomes.

About the Role

Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher, you will:

  • Follow up unexplained absences daily, liaising with parents and carers.
  • Work alongside the wider student support team and external agencies to support children at risk of persistent absence.
  • Provide advice and guidance to families, which may include making home visits where appropriate.
  • Prepare reports, correspondence, and referrals to support school improvement and compliance with local authority processes.
  • Contribute to safeguarding, student welfare, and the wider ethos of the Trust.

About You

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is skilled at building strong, constructive relationships with students, parents, staff, and external agencies.
  • Is driven, enthusiastic and who places student welfare at the heart of what they do.
  • Can work with sensitivity, resilience, and professionalism in challenging situations.
  • Has strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively.
  • Has strong IT skills and is confident working with data to analyse trends.
  • Has access to their own transport to support work across the Trust.

Why Join Us?

At Hadrian Learning Trust, we are committed to creating a supportive, inclusive environment where staff and students can thrive. As part of our team, you will benefit from:

  • Being part of a high-achieving and ambitious multi academy trust.
  • Opportunities for training and professional development.
  • A strong commitment to staff wellbeing.
