St Mary's Catholic Academy is seeking to appoint a friendly, caring and reliable Breakfast Club Assistant to join our dedicated team, as soon as possible.

This rewarding role is ideal for someone who enjoys working with children and is passionate about helping them begin each school day feeling safe, happy and ready to learn. As part of our Breakfast Club team, you will provide a warm, welcoming environment where pupils can enjoy breakfast, develop positive relationships and participate in calm, engaging activities before the start of the school day.


The position is part-time, term-time only

7.30am - 8.45am, Monday to Friday

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and supervise pupils attending Breakfast Club, ensuring they are safe, happy and well cared for.
  • Support children during breakfast, encouraging healthy eating habits, good manners and positive social interaction.
  • Organise and supervise appropriate indoor activities that promote inclusion, enjoyment and positive behaviour.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils, helping them feel confident, settled and valued.
  • Administer basic first aid when required, following school procedures, and respond appropriately to minor accidents and incidents.
  • Follow the school's safeguarding, health and safety, and behaviour policies at all times.
  • Help prepare, maintain and tidy the Breakfast Club environment before pupils begin the school day.
  • Work effectively as part of the wider school team to provide an excellent start to every child's day.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Enjoys working with children and helping them thrive.
  • Has a calm, caring and approachable manner.
  • Is reliable, punctual and able to work using their own initiative.
  • Has good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and promoting children's welfare.
  • Holds a current First Aid qualification or is willing to undertake First Aid training.
  • Previous experience working in a school, childcare or wraparound care setting is desirable but not essential.
