Careers Advisor, Coordinator and Learning Resource Manager

Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Voluntary Academy · Burton-on-Trent · Staffordshire

Job description

Are you passionate about supporting young people to achieve their aspirations and make informed choices about their futures? Do you have experience working with students aged 11-18 and the ability to build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders?

We are seeking an enthusiastic, organised and proactive Careers Lead to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to shape and develop an outstanding careers programme that equips students with the knowledge, skills and experiences they need to succeed in education, employment and training.

As our Careers Lead, you will have a significant impact on the lives of our students, helping them explore opportunities, raise aspirations and prepare for life beyond school. Working closely with senior leaders, staff, employers, further and higher education providers, and families, you will lead the strategic development of careers education across the Academy, ensuring every student is fully supported on their journey to success.

The role also includes responsibility for our Learning Resource Base (Library), creating an engaging and inclusive environment that promotes literacy, independent learning and a love of reading.

This is a rewarding and varied position for someone who is passionate about empowering young people and making a lasting difference to their futures.

Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Lead and deliver a high-quality, impartial careers programme for students in Years 7-11, inspiring ambition and supporting successful progression pathways.
  • Provide personalised careers guidance through one-to-one interviews, assemblies, workshops, careers events and parental engagement activities.
  • Develop and maintain strong partnerships with employers, colleges, universities and training providers to broaden opportunities for students.
  • Coordinate meaningful encounters and experiences that help students understand the world of work and make informed decisions about their next steps.
  • Manage, develop and promote the school library as a vibrant learning resource that supports literacy, inclusion and academic achievement.
  • Monitor careers provision, maintain accurate data and reporting systems, and ensure compliance with statutory guidance and OFSTED expectations.
  • Work collaboratively with senior leaders to continually enhance the Academy's careers provision and student outcomes.
Why Join Us?

This is more than a careers role. It is an opportunity to inspire young people, raise aspirations and help shape the future of an entire generation of students. Every day will bring the chance to make a genuine difference, helping young people gain the confidence, knowledge and experiences they need to achieve their ambitions.

Be the person who helps students discover what's possible and take their next step with confidence.
