Classroom Teacher - MAT COVER - 3 Days a Week

Wainscott Primary School · Rochester · Medway

Job description

This is a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic, positive, and capable teacher to join us on a part-time basis (3 days per week) covering maternity leave, while helping us improve the life chances of our pupils. In return, you'll benefit from high-quality training and development opportunities as part of our Trust.

About You

We are looking for an inclusive practitioner who is passionate about making a difference. You will be proactive and well-organised, with high expectations and a commitment to achieving the best outcomes for our pupils.

You will be an excellent communicator and team player, able to give our pupils the skills and experiences they need to become confident, independent, and active learners as they continue their journey towards a full, successful, and fulfilling life.

You will be able to:

  • Show a detailed knowledge of the development and progression of the subject(s) taught, and keep up to date with developments in pedagogy for those subjects.
  • Set appropriate and demanding targets for pupils' learning and motivation, identifying clear teaching objectives, content, structure, and sequences so that all pupils can reach their potential in the subject taught, as well as in literacy, numeracy, and ICT.
  • Use teaching methods that keep pupils engaged, including stimulating curiosity, effective questioning and response, clear presentation, and good use of resources.
  • Secure high standards of pupil behaviour through well-focused teaching, establishing rules that pupils respect, and dealing with inappropriate behaviour in line with the behaviour policy.
  • Build supportive relationships with parents.

We welcome applications from both experienced teachers and recently qualified teachers (ECTs).

If you're a teacher who can make learning fun, engaging, and memorable, while remaining reflective and continually seeking to improve your practice, we would love to hear from you.

Why Work with Wainscott Primary School and The Primary First Trust

Wainscott Primary School has excellent resources, vibrant teaching spaces, and highly motivated, happy children who are keen to learn and develop. It's a truly supportive environment where contributions and ideas are encouraged, valued, and supported.

We have experienced leaders who are highly ambitious and genuinely care about the pupils and staff at the school.

We are committed to supporting and training our teachers to reach their full potential, and our CPD offer is exceptionally strong for all staff. We provide a robust and supportive ECT programme that targets the individual development of teachers at the start of their careers, and our very best teachers are supported to progress into leadership or curriculum specialisms, should they choose to.

This post gives you the opportunity to work as part of a team of dedicated, professional, and determined staff, where you can make a tangible difference. You'll also have the chance to be part of key Trust-wide collaborative groups covering education and curriculum, as well as wellbeing and inclusion.

We have a strong commitment to staff wellbeing, including access to a 24/7 Employee Assistance Programme (EAP), which offers confidential counselling and wellbeing advice.

You will also have access to national terms and conditions and a generous Teachers' Pension Scheme.
