Clerical Assistant

Samuel Allsopp Primary and Nursery School · Burton-upon-Trent · Staffordshire

Job description

CLERICAL ASSISTANT (GRADE 3) 2 posts

As part of our continued commitment to ensuring the smooth and effective running of our school, we are seeking to appoint two motivated and professional Clerical Assistants to join our dedicated office team.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a rapidly improving school, where administrative staff play a vital role in supporting pupils, families and colleagues across both sites. The successful candidates will contribute to the day-to-day organisation of the school and help ensure a welcoming, efficient and well-run environment.

We are looking for individuals who are organised, approachable and able to manage a varied workload within a busy school office. The ideal candidates will demonstrate a calm and professional manner, with the ability to communicate effectively and build positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents and visitors.

Working under the direction of senior leaders, the successful candidates will provide clerical, administrative and financial support to the school, including reception duties, maintaining accurate records, managing routine correspondence and supporting school events and operations.

Following appointment, one role will cover a morning shift and one an afternoon shift. Final working patterns will be agreed based on the strengths of the successful candidates and the needs of the school

The ideal candidates will:

  • Have experience of clerical or administrative work in a busy environment
  • Be highly organised, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong ICT skills, including effective use of Microsoft Office packages
  • Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a friendly and professional manner
  • Be able to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • Show attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of their work
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • Demonstrate a positive, proactive approach and a willingness to learn and develop

In recent years, the school has made substantial progress under a new name and new set of values. This is leading to a rapid improvement in outcomes and practice, and we are proud of how far we have come. As we move into the next phase of our journey, we can offer:

  • A welcoming and supportive team environment
  • Opportunities for training and professional development
  • A school that is continuing to improve and grow
  • Well-behaved and respectful pupils
  • A supportive and engaged parent community

  • Closing Date: Thursday 2nd July 2026 @ 12 noon (Applications straight to the school)
  • Shortlisting: Friday 3rd July 2026
  • Possible Interview Date: Wednesday 15th July
