Job description
Nicholas Breakspear Catholic School currently looking for a fixed term Cover Supervisor/unqualified teacher to join our supportive and creative team, dedicated to the teaching and learning of all students. We have encouraged and supported many of our cover supervisors to go on to become qualified teachers and have been able to offer internal training opportunities so we are particularly looking for candidates who are considering a career in teaching. This post is initially offered for the period of one academic year to cover teaching staff maternity leaves but may become permanent when other members of the team start their teacher training.

The Role:
This role will offer you the ideal opportunity to develop your classroom management skills and experience and you will also have the opportunity to get involved in many other aspects of school life. If you are thinking about becoming a teacher, this role will give you invaluable skills and we will fully support your development.
NBS is proud to have an outstanding record in supporting and training their Cover Supervisors to go on to become successful teachers in the school.
Hours: 37 hours per week
Times: 8.00 - 4.00pm Monday - Thursday and 8.00 - 3.30pm on Fridays (with 30-minute unpaid lunch).
Term Time Only: 38 weeks plus 5 inset days = 39 weeks
Annual Leave Entitlement: 5.6 weeks ( to be taken during School Holidays)
Total paid weeks: 44.6 weeks per year
Grade Range: H4, SCP6 - H4, SCP 9 - dependent on experience

About you:
Successful candidates should be outgoing, confident and supportive, with good interpersonal skills. The ability to form positive relationships with young people and excellent classroom management skills are essential. Applications from those considering a career in teaching and wishing to contribute to other aspects of school life outside the classroom are particularly welcome.

Training will be provided, however, successful candidates must be educated to A level or above, have strong ICT skills and hold English and Maths GCSEs at grade C or above.
