Salary/Grade: H5, Point 9 – 14

Closing Date: 9.00am, Monday 7th September 2026

About the Role

Goffs Academy, part of the Generations Multi Academy Trust, is seeking a highly organised and methodical Curriculum & Timetable Officer to join the team from September 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to play a critical role in the smooth operational running of a vibrant and successful 11-18 comprehensive school.

As Curriculum & Timetable Officer, you will support the construction, maintenance and optimisation of the school's complex whole-school timetable, working closely with the Senior Leadership Team to translate the school's curriculum vision into a workable, efficient schedule for staff and students. You will balance curriculum needs, staffing and room capacity, ensuring resources and teaching hours are maximised.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the annual construction of the whole-school timetable using scheduling software (e.g. Arbor and Timetablr), collaborating closely with the SLT.
  • Manage and implement in-year timetable adjustments arising from staff changes, student choices, or curriculum adjustments.
  • Optimise the use of classrooms, specialist laboratories and sports facilities to minimise room changes and travel time.
  • Assist in creating and managing GCSE and A-Level option blocks and subject allocation to maximise student choice satisfaction.
  • Ensure the school's Management Information System (MIS) is accurately populated with curriculum structures, class lists and teacher assignments.
  • Manage the end-of-year rollover and comprehensive setup of the new academic year within the school's data systems.
  • Generate data reports on class sizes, staff utilisation rates and curriculum delivery costs for the SLT.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for Heads of Department on scheduling queries, rooming requests and timetable constraints.
  • Resolve scheduling clashes logically and empathetically, keeping staff wellbeing and student outcomes in mind.
  • Support the organisation and implementation of key Curriculum and Options events across all key stages.
  • Provide administrative support to relevant members of SLT, including managing email, calendar and stakeholder communication.

Requirements

  • Good standard of education, including GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or above, or equivalent.
  • Proven experience working within a secondary school administration, data, or operations role.
  • Substantial experience using secondary school Management Information Systems (MIS).
  • Exceptional analytical, logical and algorithmic problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel capability (e.g. VLOOKUPs, INDEX/MATCH, Pivot Tables, data manipulation).
  • High level of IT literacy and the ability to learn complex software systems quickly.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities and meet strict operational deadlines.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and high levels of accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and manage expectations.
  • Resilience, discretion and flexibility when working under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Direct experience constructing a complex school timetable using Arbor and Timetablr or equivalent scheduling software (desirable).
  • Experience managing options processes and academic year rollovers (desirable).
  • Degree or relevant professional qualification in data management, mathematics, statistics, or ICT (desirable).
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting equality and diversity.

Benefits

  • A £20million school building, with additional new facilities which opened in April 2022.
  • Outstanding career development, including dedicated leadership development and coaching in a national "Leadership" school.
  • Access to high-quality, personalised CPD and bespoke leadership development programmes.
  • Subsidised nursery provision through Ashbourne Nurseries.
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme offering health and wellbeing resources.
  • Discounted membership to the state-of-the-art Lifestyle Fitness gym at Goffs Academy.
  • Cycle-to-work scheme and onsite car valeting at reduced rates.
  • Generous sick pay allowances and a two-week autumn half term.
