Job description
We're looking for an exam invigilator to join our team and help create calm, fair and well-organised exam experiences for our students.
This is a vital support role. You'll work closely with our exams officer to make sure every exam runs smoothly and that all candidates feel supported and able to do their best. You'll help set up exam rooms, supervise students during exams, and ensure we follow Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ) regulations at all times.
If you're someone who stays calm under pressure, pays close attention to detail, and wants to contribute to students' success at a crucial moment in their education, we'd love to hear from you.
Key responsibilities
You will:
- set up exam rooms according to seating plans and make sure everything is ready before students arrive;
- check student identity, verify attendance, and distribute exam papers and materials;
- supervise students calmly and carefully during exams, making sure everyone follows the rules;
- handle any questions from candidates and respond to any disruptions or emergencies according to school policies;
- collect exam papers and materials carefully at the end of each exam and return them to the exams officer; and
- support students to leave the exam room in an orderly way and help restore the venue afterwards.
What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who:
- has good literacy skills and holds GCSE maths and English (grade 4) or equivalent qualifications;
- can stay calm under pressure and handle unexpected situations with professionalism;
- communicates clearly and confidently, especially when giving instructions to large groups;
- works well as part of a team and builds trusted relationships with colleagues and students;
- uses their own initiative and follows schedules to meet deadlines; and
- shows a genuine commitment to safeguarding and supporting young people.
Experience of working with children or in an education setting would be helpful, but it's not essential. What matters most is your ability to create a fair, supportive and well-organised environment where every student can succeed. Are you ready to play a key part in some of the most important moments in our students' school lives?
