Exams Officer

Lift Bexleyheath · Bexleyheath · Bexley

Job description

We're looking for an exams officer to join our team and support the successful coordination and management of all public examinations. This is your chance to play a vital role in helping our students achieve their potential.

At Lift Bexleyheath, we know examinations are a crucial part of every young person's school experience. You'll bring together all the moving parts - from timetables and entries to special arrangements and results - making sure everything runs smoothly and fairly for every student. If you're highly organised, calm under pressure, and enjoy solving problems, we'd love to hear from you.

Key responsibilities

You will:

  • Manage exam entries by working closely with examination boards, ensuring all deadlines are met and handling any amendments needed;
  • Create and share student timetables, forecast grade sheets, and staff communications in collaboration with senior leaders and heads of department;
  • Coordinate exam rooms, invigilation teams and special arrangements to make sure every session runs without a hitch;
  • Oversee exam day activities, including attendance registers, student conduct, and the secure dispatch of scripts;
  • Publish results, support initial analysis with the data manager, and handle any enquiries, appeals or missing results; and
  • Assist with internal exams, including timetabling, seating plans and invigilation arrangements.

What we're looking for

We're seeking someone who:

  • Holds level 2 qualifications in maths and English (GCSE grade 4 or equivalent);
  • Has excellent IT skills and is confident using tools like Google Workspace;
  • Brings strong organisational abilities and can plan and prioritise effectively when juggling competing demands;
  • Understands public examination requirements and can handle confidential information with care and professionalism;
  • Communicates clearly and collaboratively with students, staff and external partners; and
  • Stays calm, flexible and resilient when last-minute changes or timetabling challenges arise.

Previous examination experience in a school setting and knowledge of special exam arrangements for students with SEND would be a real advantage. Could this be the right next step for you?
