St Andrew's Church of England Primary School · Kettering · North Northamptonshire
Job description
Love your neighbour as yourself
Family Support Worker
Make a Lasting Difference to Children and Families Every Day
St. Andrew's is a Christian values-led, highly popular school and nursery in the heart of Kettering and is part of the Peterborough Diocese Academy Trust (PDET). We're proud of the way children not only make great progress in their learning, but also how we take such pride in developing our children's character and behaviour. Children are at the heart of every decision we make as we strive to serve and better our community.
We are seeking a dedicated, resilient and experienced Family Support Worker, to join our team. This is a rewarding and rare opportunity for someone who is passionate about improving outcomes for children and supporting families to overcome barriers to success. Working closely with pupils, parents, carers and external agencies, you will play a key role in building positive relationships, providing practical support and helping to ensure every child has the opportunity to flourish.
This is a role for someone who is committed to excellence. Standards and expectations across our setting are high and we are looking for a professional who shares our ambition for children and families.
The successful applicant will be proactive and committed to delivering high-quality support. They will be expected to build strong partnerships with families, maintain professional boundaries, and consistently demonstrate a positive and child-centred approach.
We want St Andrew's to be a beacon of our community that inspires adults and children alike with outstanding learning and teaching. Where children develop a thirst and love of learning that will be lifelong. We want St Andrew's to be a school where children learn to love their neighbour as themselves through a thoughtful and wide-ranging development of pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural development within the Christian faith. We want out values to be our children's virtues.
"This is an extremely inclusive and welcoming school. Pupils get on well with each other. They are caring and kind. They enjoy positive relationships with staff. Staff hold pupils’ interests at the heart of all that they do." - OFSTED 2023
We are seeking someone who:
- Is able to work collaboratively with various members of the school community, including agencies, school staff, child and parents, to be a pivotal supportive link to help overcome barriers to learning
- Understands the importance of Child Protection and is committed to the safeguarding of children’s welfare- both at home and in school.
- Is able to promote an effective relationship between home and school life, for both children and parents.
- Has knowledge and awareness of opportunities and resources to support children and families in need.
- Is able to maintain effective and efficient lines of communication between various groups and organisations throughout the community, to ensure essential support is available for families
- Has an understanding of procedures and systems involved in the role, including Social Services, Child Protection, Education Welfare Service policies and Reporting standards.
- Maintains an approachable, controlled and focused manner throughout their work, to relay both a positive and optimistic attitude to support those in challenging situations. Oftentimes the role may involve the ability to deal with a wide-ranging audience on challenging issues
- Has previous experience of working with children and their families
- Ability to work effectively, flexibly and independently, with willingness to show initiative and strong interpersonal skills
- Is keen to support the ethos of a Church school.
We can offer you:
- A school that is committed to the importance of developing children’s creativity, imagination and love of learning.
- A forward thinking, creative school that prides itself in supporting and encouraging professional development to ensure you are successful and continue to grow as an educator and leader.
- A school that believes in kindness, love and Christian values that underpins our approach to the whole school community.
- An exciting opportunity to work within an aspirational SLT team that want to embrace your talents and skills.
- Excellent CPD through being part of the Peterborough Diocesan Academy (PDET)
