GR2 EHCP 1:1 Support Assistant (KS2)

Job description

This role is specifically linked to supporting an individual KS2 pupil with an EHCP.

Essential Skills:

  • Ability to support the pupil's personal care needs, in line with Local Authority guidance where required
  • Past experience supporting a pupil/pupils who have Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Experience delivering planned, personalised, and multi-sensory learning activities based on pupils’ EHCP outcomes, under the direction of the Class Teacher
  • Confidence in providing effective 1:1 support to pupils
  • Confidence using technology to capture pupil's learning and progress, to support the Class Teacher
  • Ability to maintain effective ongoing communication and regular review processes between home and school

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience working with children with complex communication needs, including autism
  • Experience supporting non-verbal learners
  • Knowledge and experience in delivering multi-sensory approaches to learning
  • Training or experience in early communication strategies, such as Intensive Interaction, Makaton, Attention Autism (Bucket), and activities to develop communication and language (e.g. copying games, choice-making, matching activities)
  • Experience supporting children with sensory processing difficulties
  • Training in safer handling approaches (e.g. Team Teach)

  • Past experience working within a Catholic school would be desirable, but is not essential
  • This post is covered by Part 7 of the Immigration Act (2016), and therefore the ability to speak fluent English is an essential requirement for this role.
