Job description

Join us in shaping the future of Catholic education as part of the St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust.

The Diocese of Nottingham and St Ralph Sherwin CMAT are seeking an inspirational and faith-filled leader to become the next Headteacher of St Mary's Catholic Voluntary Academy, a thriving and highly successful Catholic primary school situated in the picturesque village of Marple Bridge, on the border of Stockport and Derbyshire.

St Mary's is a warm, welcoming and high-performing school where children are encouraged to flourish spiritually, academically and personally. At the heart of our community is our mission:

"To live and learn by journeying with Mary to Jesus, for the greater glory of God."

Our mission is brought to life through our SANCTA values:

These values underpin every aspect of school life and shape a culture where children, staff and families work together in partnership to achieve the very best outcomes.

We are proud of our strong relationships with parents and carers, recognising them as essential partners in their children's education. Through open communication, mutual respect and a shared commitment to success, we have built a vibrant and supportive school community where every child is known, valued and encouraged to reach their full potential.

As Headteacher, you will provide outstanding strategic leadership, ensuring the Catholic life and mission of the school remain at the centre of everything we do. Working closely with staff, governors, the Trust and wider community, you will lead the continued development of excellence in teaching, learning and pupil outcomes while nurturing the spiritual, social and emotional development of every child.

For suitably experienced candidates with a proven record of driving school improvement, we would also welcome discussions regarding a potential Executive Headteacher arrangement.

We are looking for someone who will:
  • Be a practising Catholic with a strong personal faith and a clear vision for Catholic education.
  • Ensure the teachings and example of Jesus Christ are central to school life.
  • Place safeguarding and pupil welfare at the heart of all decision-making.
  • Demonstrate a successful track record of strategic leadership and sustained school improvement.
  • Build upon the school's many achievements while driving continuous improvement.
  • Be committed to enabling every pupil to fulfil their God-given potential.
  • Foster strong relationships with pupils, staff, parents, governors, Trust colleagues and external partners.
  • Work collaboratively to deliver a compelling vision that leads to exceptional outcomes.
  • Develop and empower high-performing teams through coaching, support and challenge.
  • Inspire, motivate and influence others to achieve excellence.
  • Lead confidently through change while maintaining high standards.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with a wide range of stakeholders.

We offer:

  • Competitive salary: Leadership Scale L13 - L19 (£72,032 -£83,478 per annum).
