Oliver Tomkins CE VA School is a thriving, inclusive and aspirational community, where pupils demonstrate respect, curiosity and a genuine pride in one another’s achievements. Our staff team is dedicated, supportive and committed to providing a curriculum that offers rich, memorable learning experiences for every child.

✨ About Our School

Established in 1980, Oliver Tomkins is a hard‑federated, two‑form entry Voluntary Aided primary school within the Diocese of Bristol. We provide education from Nursery to Year 6 and welcome children of all faiths and none, celebrating the diversity of backgrounds, abilities and talents within our community.

We are proud of our reputation as a warm, friendly and nurturing school, where children are supported to reach their full potential spiritually, intellectually, physically, creatively and socially.

🌱 The Opportunity

The Governing Body is seeking to appoint a substantive Headteacher who brings evidence of successful strategic leadership, either as a Headteacher or Deputy Head, and a proven track record of school improvement.

Our Christian ethos is at the heart of everything we do and we’re looking for a leader who can bring faith, compassion and ambition together to create a thriving learning environment.

We are looking for a leader with commitment to:

  • Inspire and nurture pupils and staff across all aspects of school life
  • Uphold and strengthen the distinct Church of England ethos of the school
  • Engage parents and carers as partners in their children’s learning and development
  • Communicate effectively with pupils, staff, families and governors
  • Drive improvement across agreed priority areas, demonstrating secure knowledge of the Nursery, KS1 and KS2 curriculum
  • Work collaboratively with Governors to deliver and refine the school’s strategic vision

If you are a leader who can inspire confidence, foster ambition and strengthen our school community, we would be delighted to receive your application.

🙌 Visits to our School

We warmly encourage visits so you can experience our ethos and community for yourself. Please contact Mr Spencer Allen, Chair of Governors at head@chiseldon.swindon.sch.uk or call 01793 740349 to arrange a visit.

🔒 Our Commitment to Safeguarding

Oliver Tomkins CE VA School is committed to safer recruitment practice. Pre‑employment checks will be undertaken before any appointment is confirmed. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people, and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to undertake an Enhanced DBS check and provide three satisfactory references.

🌟 Join Us

If you have the vision, faith and leadership to inspire pupils, staff and our wider community, we would be delighted to receive your application. This is more than a leadership role, it is a calling to serve, to guide and to help every child shine.
