Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA)

Location: Byron Wood Primary Academy
Hours: 37 hours per week, term time only
Contract: Permanent
Salary: £25,907 - £27,665 (actual salary)

Byron Wood Primary Academy is seeking an experienced and motivated Higher Level Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team. This is an exciting opportunity to lead learning, support teaching and make a meaningful difference to pupils’ progress and outcomes.

Key responsibilities
  • Deliver planned lessons and learning activities in the absence of a teacher
  • Support teachers in planning, preparing and adapting learning to meet pupil needs
  • Lead small group and targeted intervention work to raise attainment
  • Promote a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment
  • Monitor, record and report on pupil progress and development
  • Support behaviour management in line with school policy
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff and wider colleagues
  • Contribute to the wider life of the school, including trips and enrichment activities
What we’re looking for
  • HLTA status (or equivalent experience)
  • Experience of working within a primary school setting
  • Confidence in leading whole-class learning when required
  • Strong understanding of the primary curriculum
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to motivate and inspire pupils of all abilities
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
  • A proactive, flexible and positive approach
