Job description
Core Purpose
To work with and supervise individuals and groups of children under the direction/instruction of teaching &/or senior staff, inclusive of specific individual learning needs, enabling access to learning for all pupils and assistance and support in classroom management and behaviour techniques. To provide specific intervention and support according to the individual needs of pupil(s) both within and outside of the classroom.
Please note the role is for personal care of a male student
Key Duties / Responsibilities
- Helping individual pupils, or groups of pupils, to access the differentiated curriculum, including assisting with the planning and preparation of 1:1 and small group learning activities.
- Planning and delivering interventions that are responsive to pupils’ personal needs and communication on progress to parents and wider staff.
- Provide advisory support and contributes to the professional development of colleagues in relation to their specialist area of expertise.
- Establish good working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.
Be aware of and respond appropriately to individual pupil needs ensuringeffective interaction.
- Provide specific support to pupils dependent upon their individual needs ensuring their safety whilst supporting access to learning activities.
- Promote inclusion and acceptance of all pupils.
- Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher.
- Promote self-esteem and independence.
- Provide feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under the guidance and direction of the teacher.
- Following discussions with the teacher and senior members of staff share information about class activities, pupil progress and family’s needs, on a need to know basis, to ensure support can be further tailored and an inclusive approach is applied
