Higher Level Teaching Assistant

Milldown CofE Academy · Blandford Forum · Dorset

Job description

We are driven by a clear ambition: to provide the very best educational environment for our children, staff, and parent community. With this purpose at our core, we set exceptionally high expectations for ourselves and for those who join us. To support our ongoing journey, we are seeking an inspirational individual to become part of our team. If that sounds like you, please read on.

We are keen to attract like‑minded, ambitious professionals who have the drive, determination, and enthusiasm to make a meaningful difference. We are looking for a part-time HLTA (4 days a week/28 hours 40 minutes) who demonstrates a positive approach to personal growth and a strong commitment to collaboration, reflective practice, and continuous improvement. In essence, we hope to find someone who brings energy and excitement to their work, radiates positivity, believes gratitude should be expressed often, and inspires everyone around them. This is a fixed term position until August 2027.

Our team is already rich in talent, collaboration, and potential. When you visit us, you’ll step into a learning community that embraces innovation, takes thoughtful risks, and celebrates its successes—including the valuable lessons learned along the way. You will meet children and staff who are happy, enthusiastic, and supportive of one another. Our teaching is guided by research‑led approaches, helping us focus on what truly matters. Our Christian Values form the foundation of our warm, nurturing environment and are woven into all that we do.

We also recognise that life extends beyond the classroom. Work-life balance matters to us. While you’re with us, we encourage you to experience what our beautiful locality has to offer. Just a short walk away is the leisure centre—perfect for those who enjoy fitness (with reduced rates available). Behind our school lies the tranquil Milldown Nature Reserve, ideal for peaceful walks and relaxation. Altogether, we think it’s a pretty special place to work.

Below you’ll find further details about the role and the skills we are seeking. If what you’ve read so far resonates with you, it may be time to start your application. But before you do, we invite you to watch the short clip below.

At Milldown CE Academy, we believe every child needs—and deserves—time and attention, and to feel genuinely cared for. We also believe strongly in the joy of childhood and feel that it should be celebrated and protected. The clip reflects our view on the importance of valuing the joy of childhood. If you share this belief, then we are already off to a very promising start.
