Oasis Academy Don Valley · Sheffield · Sheffield

Job description

Join Our Team as a Higher Level Teaching Assistant (Primary)

Ready to inspire, support and make a lasting difference every single day? Oasis Academy Don Valley is looking for a passionate and dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) to join our vibrant primary phase and help shape the future of our young learners.

At Oasis Academy Don Valley, our mission is simple: to provide an exceptional education at the heart of the community, preparing children to have a positive impact on the world in their own unique way. We are a diverse and inclusive academy where high expectations, strong relationships and a relentless focus on achievement enable every child to thrive. We believe that all children can be successful regardless of their background, and we work together as one academy family to help them reach their full potential.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Teaching Assistant or aspiring HLTA to take on a rewarding role that combines classroom leadership, pupil support and meaningful opportunities to influence children's learning journeys.

Bringing Learning to Life

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you won't just support learning, you'll help lead it. Working closely with teachers and the wider primary team, you will deliver engaging lessons, provide high-quality PPA cover and support learning across a range of year groups. Whether working with whole classes, small groups or individual pupils, you will play a vital role in helping children develop the knowledge, confidence and skills they need to succeed.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading learning during teacher release time and planned absence
  • Delivering targeted interventions to support pupil progress
  • Creating engaging learning activities and resources
  • Supporting assessment and monitoring attainment
  • Promoting positive behaviour and high expectations
  • Providing pastoral support that helps pupils feel safe, valued and ready to learn
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues and families to secure the best outcomes for every child

Through your work, you will help ensure children develop into confident learners who are prepared for the next stage of their education and beyond.

More Than Education

At Oasis Academy Don Valley, we are committed to developing successful learners for the future in an exciting, secure and happy environment where every individual is valued and encouraged to be their very best. Our academy is built upon the values of Pride, Respect, Enthusiasm, Courage and Hope, which underpin everything we do.

As a HLTA, you will help children to:

  • Develop pride in their achievements
  • Build the confidence to embrace new challenges
  • Show respect for themselves and others
  • Approach learning with enthusiasm and curiosity
  • Believe in their ability to succeed and make a difference
  • Grow into responsible citizens who contribute positively to their communities

Every day presents an opportunity to help children realise their potential and turn their aspirations into reality.

Who We're Looking For

We are seeking someone who is enthusiastic, resilient and genuinely committed to helping children succeed. The ideal candidate will:

  • Have experience supporting or leading learning for classes, groups and individual pupils
  • Demonstrate strong communication and organisational skills
  • Build positive and productive relationships with pupils, families and colleagues
  • Have high expectations for achievement, behaviour and personal development
  • Be adaptable, proactive and solution-focused
  • Understand the importance of inclusion and supporting diverse pupil needs
  • Be committed to safeguarding and promoting children's welfare
  • Share the Oasis values of inclusion, equality, hope and perseverance

Essential Qualifications

  • A minimum of 3 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above, including English and Maths
  • HLTA qualification desirable, though support will be available for the right candidate
  • Relevant experience supporting high-quality teaching and learning
