HLTA (Behaviour Hub)

The Clarendon Academy · Trowbridge · Wiltshire

Job description

Clarendon Academy is looking for a personable and dedicated HLTA to work as a learning lead to students within our Behaviour Hub, starting as soon as possible. The role will involve working with our behaviour and inclusion team to support students who are not in their timetabled lesson for a short period of time, assisting students in completing recap work and refocusing ready to return to learning in lessons. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with young people who have learning gaps and who need to build confidence and resilience.

Working Hours: Part time (30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 39 weeks per year, includes Teacher Training Days). Required: ASAP.

Clarendon Academy is a thriving co-educational, non-denominational secondary school and sixth form, educating young people between the ages of 11 and 18. Located in the bustling town of Trowbridge, Wiltshire, we pride ourselves on being a centre of excellence where young, enthusiastic children enter in Year 7 and leave us at the end of Year 13 as fully rounded young adults. Our staff aim for every lesson, every day, to be exceptional and work tirelessly to ensure students feel that they belong and can achieve their dreams. We are part of the Acorn Education Trust, which provides exciting opportunities to collaborate and improve local education. In June 2023 we retained our ‘Good’ Ofsted rating and were praised for offering a high-quality, well sequenced curriculum with the inspectors commenting that “pupils feel safe and cared for in this welcoming and friendly school.”

The successful candidate will work with students of all abilities and profiles across years 7-11, including those requiring SEN and behaviour support, and who require consistency and kindness. In this role, you will work as part of a dedicated team that includes SLT, teachers, support staff and our SENCO. The role will require you to oversee and support pupils who struggle with behaviour. Your role will be based out of the Behaviour Hub, where you will support the Assistant Headteacher for Behaviour in the day-to-day running of the area and by working to identify and remove barriers for students who are often referred there by staff.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Maths;
  • Has a passion for delivering high quality and exciting opportunities for children and supporting them in their development;

  • Is self-motivated, dedicated and consistent;
  • Has the ability to deal with new challenging situations;
  • Has a positive, resilient and empathetic attitude;
  • Is a strong team player who can use their own initiative;
  • Understands and is sympathetic to the needs of young people, including their social, emotional and mental wellbeing;
  • Has experience of supporting students’ learning;
  • Has experience working with young people with SEND / behaviour needs and /or is willing to undertake training to support young people with such needs.

We can offer the successful candidate:

  • Training opportunities;
  • The opportunity to further your career;
  • A caring and dynamic team of colleagues;
  • A workplace that genuinely values staff wellbeing;
  • A commitment to achieving the best for all of our pupils and staff.
