Lay Chaplain

De Lisle College Loughborough Leicestershire · Loughborough · Leicestershire

Job description

We are seeking to appoint a committed and inspirational Lay Chaplain to join our Catholic school community and play a key role in supporting the spiritual, pastoral and faith development of our students and staff.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a community where “…Christ is authentically at the heart…” and which has a “…sense of family and belonging…” (Catholic Schools Inspection June 2024).

The school is a vibrant and diverse community, built on the foundation of the school mission “Rooted and grounded in love.” (Ephesians 3:17) and lived out as “De Lisle LOVES” - Love, Opportunity, Values, Encounter and Service.

The chaplaincy provision at De Lisle is broad ranging and inclusive, offering opportunities for prayer, worship and formation to the whole community. All students experience daily prayer; there are opportunities for student leadership not only in prayer but service towards the community. Residential and day retreats are made available to students, as well as the weekly celebration of Mass and the sacrament of reconciliation. Prayer is at the heart of staff meetings and Catholic Social Teaching is woven not only into our curriculum, but also into the values we express daily. We have a beautiful chapel, and a prayer garden.

We are looking for someone who is:

A practising Catholic who is passionate about working with others to share the love of Christ both within and beyond our school community. The candidate must meet the definition of a practicing Catholic in the Diocese of Nottingham.

Keen to make the most of the opportunity to work with young people, school leaders and colleagues, families, parishes and the Diocese to build God’s kingdom on earth.

Committed to the mission of Catholic education, ensuring that Catholic Social Teaching is lived out in a tangible way, that shows the intrinsic value of every person and the whole of God’s creation.

Prayerful and reflective, with the ability to inspire others to encounter God’s love through prayer, worship and faith formation.

Dedicated to the call to bring God’s love to our communities, both near and far and guide the community in ways to serve the whole of God’s creation.
