Job description
We are seeking committed and passionate Learning Support Assistants to help provide academic, social and emotional support across all areas of the curriculum at Queen Elizabeth High School, in both our main school and within our internal alternative provision which supports some students with SEMH needs. The role may occasionally require supporting students with personal care needs. Personal care duties form a small part of the overall role and will be undertaken as required to support pupil wellbeing and inclusion. We are looking for enthusiastic people who place pupil success and strong relationships at the heart of what they do.
Working under the direction of the Assistant Headteacher - SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo for our special educational needs department, you will be at the forefront of the high school’s SEND provision. You will work with colleagues, students, and their parents/carers to build strong, positive relationships to enable all students to fulfil their potential. You will be ambitious for the success of all students and will establish an environment where high expectations and targeted support are fully embedded.
The successful applicant will access a supportive induction and training package. We welcome applications from all underrepresented groups and we are happy to discuss any reasonable adjustments individuals may require in the recruitment process, on commencement, or once in post.
We are a large and flourishing high school set in the historical market town of Hexham and are co-located with Hexham Middle School as part of Hadrian Learning Trust. In September 2021, we moved into brand new school buildings with state-of-the-art learning facilities. We are also very proud of our internal alternative provision to support students with SEMH needs. We cherish the strong partnerships that exist between students, parents/carers, staff, and the local community making this a successful, friendly, and welcoming school. Students at QEHS have an eagerness to learn and achieve very well academically. We pride ourselves on the care we give the children at QEHS.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all staff to share this commitment. The successful applicant will be required to obtain a satisfactory Certificate of Disclosure from the Disclosure and Barring Service.
We reserve the right to amend or withdraw this advert at any time.
