Job description

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust, together with Cape Cornwall School are seeking to appoint a reliable and enthusiastic Minibus Driver for Cape Cornwall School.

Join Our Team: Minibus Driver at Cape Cornwall School

Are you a safe, reliable driver looking for a flexible role where you can make a difference?

Truro and Penwith Academy Trust (TPAT) is a supportive and collaborative organisation dedicated to improving teaching and learning across Cornwall. We are currently seeking a Minibus Driver to join our team at Cape Cornwall School.

In this role, you will be the friendly face ensuring our students and staff reach their off-site destinations safely and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

· Safe Transport: Drive the school minibus in a safe manner, adhering to all traffic laws and TPAT policies.

· Student Supervision: Register and supervise students during travel, ensuring safety measures like seatbelts are always in place.

· Vehicle Maintenance: Keep the minibus clean and tidy, reporting any defects to the site team and keeping mileage logs up-to-date.

· Safety & Compliance: Promptly report any accidents or near misses and follow all guidance in the School Minibus Handbook.

· Professionalism: Communicate effectively with staff, students, and parents, and attend training as directed.

Requirements & Expectations

· Flexibility: Shifts may vary to meet school needs and can occasionally extend outside of school hours or into weekends.

· Commitment to Safety: You will be required to successfully complete an enhanced DBS safeguarding check.

· Statutory Duties: You must undertake all statutory duties as required by the school and TPAT.

· Holiday Planning: Holidays are to be pre-arranged with the Headteacher and taken during school holiday periods.

About The Role:

Cape Cornwall School is seeking an enthusiastic and reliable person to join our school minibus driver pool to support our daily service for students who live outside our catchment. One route runs from Penzance to St Just; the other route goes via Mousehole and Newlyn. The hours of work are typically 7.15am – 8.30am and 2.45pm – 4.00pm. There is a further ‘catch up’ bus at 4.00pm that supports after-school clubs and fixtures. It would be possible to support all or just some of the transport services.

Experience desirable but not essential and full training will be given. Applicants must be aged over 25 and possess Class D1 on a clean driving license. For an informal discussion about the role, please telephone the school on 01736 788501.
