Premises Officer (Glossop Region)

St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy · Glossop · Derbyshire

Job description

Your role - making a difference every day

Great schools need great people behind the scenes. Could that be you?

We are looking for a practical, proactive and dependable individual who takes pride in creating safe, welcoming and well-maintained environments where children and colleagues can thrive.

Based predominantly at St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy, you will play an important role in supporting a cluster of schools across the Glossop area, helping to ensure that our buildings, grounds and facilities are safe, secure and ready for each school day.

This is a varied, hands-on role where no two days are quite the same. From carrying out essential maintenance and supporting site security to ensuring health and safety standards are met, your work will make a real difference to the everyday experience of our school communities.

What will you be doing?
  • Keeping our schools looking their best - Undertaking general maintenance, minor repairs and routine checks to ensure our buildings and grounds remain safe, welcoming and well presented.

  • Creating safe and secure environments - Supporting site security, completing health and safety inspections, identifying potential risks and helping us maintain high standards of compliance.

  • Supporting the smooth running of our schools - Providing practical caretaking and porterage support, working with contractors and assisting with the day-to-day management of our premises.

  • Looking after our buildings and resources - Monitoring heating and building systems, supporting energy efficiency and helping us make sustainable choices.

  • Being part of something bigger - Working collaboratively with school colleagues and the wider estates team, sharing your skills and responding flexibly to the needs of our schools.

What are we looking for?

Above all, we are looking for someone who genuinely cares about the environment in which our children learn and our colleagues work.

You'll be someone who enjoys practical work, can use their initiative, takes pride in a job well done and understands the importance of keeping a busy school running safely and smoothly.

You'll be organised, approachable, reliable and happy to turn your hand to different tasks. Experience of general maintenance, caretaking or premises management would be valuable, but just as important is a positive attitude, a willingness to learn and a commitment to being part of our school community.

Be part of something specialWelcome to St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust

At St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust, we believe that every member of staff has an important part to play in shaping the lives and futures of our children.

As part of the Diocese of Nottingham's family of Catholic Multi-Academy Trusts, we work together to create environments where everyone is valued, supported and encouraged to flourish.

When you join our Trust, you'll become part of a welcoming and supportive family of schools, with access to a range of benefits designed to help you thrive.

  • Opportunities to learn and grow - Access to high-quality continuing professional development, training and opportunities to build your skills and confidence.

  • Real career opportunities - With 25 schools across our Trust and 84 across the Diocese, there are opportunities to develop your career and explore new possibilities.

  • Support when you need it - Our Employee Assistance Programme offers confidential, independent support and guidance, available 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including access to counselling where appropriate.

  • A valuable pension scheme - Eligible support staff can join the Local Government Pension Scheme, offering excellent retirement benefits alongside generous employer contributions.

  • Fair pay and conditions - We are committed to nationally agreed pay and conditions, recognising the important contribution our colleagues make.

  • A genuine sense of purpose - The opportunity to be part of a community where your work makes a meaningful difference to the lives of children and young people every single day.

Safeguarding is everyone's responsibility

St Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi-Academy Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect everyone who works or volunteers within our schools to share this commitment.

Appointment to this role will be subject to appropriate pre-employment checks, including satisfactory references (normally requested before interview), an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, medical clearance where appropriate, verification of relevant qualifications and confirmation of the right to work in the UK.

Ready to make a difference?

If you're practical, reliable and take pride in helping others, we'd love to hear from you.

Join us and help create the safe, welcoming and inspiring school environments that our children and colleagues deserve.
