Job description

“Be your best self – and help our pupils do the same”

We are at an exciting point in our school's journey. Following the retirement of our Assistant Headteacher of Primary. We have recently appointed a new Assistant Headteacher who will be leading our primary provision into its next chapter. This is your opportunity to join at a pivotal moment, working alongside our new Assistant Headteacher to shape the future of primary education at Exhall Grange, while benefiting from the expertise and support of our existing dedicated and highly skilled team.

About Exhall Grange:

Exhall Grange is a thriving 4-19 maintained specialist school serving 280 pupils with a wide range of complex needs, including Social, Communication and Interaction difficulties (including Autism), Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, physical difficulties and sensory impairments, and complex medical needs.

We are incredibly proud of our school community. Our pupils are seen and known as individuals, and our experienced, caring staff have the expertise to bring out the best in every child. Our core purpose is simple: we encourage everyone, pupils and staff alike, to 'Be Your Best Self'. We provide a nurturing, inclusive and aspirational environment where challenge and resilience go hand in hand, helping our pupils progress to positive outcomes and destinations. Every pupil is known as an individual. We constantly improve the quality of learning outcomes by refining our high-quality teaching, reviewing our curriculum, and using assessment and targeting consistently and effectively. At Exhall Grange we ensure that all staff at the school are committed to personal and shared development of skills that strengthen and support our strategic purpose and vision.

About the Role:

We are seeking two enthusiastic Primary Teachers to join our dedicated Primary team from September 2026.

What You Will Be Doing:

In our primary setting, you will work within one of our two specialist learning pathways, carefully designed to meet the diverse needs of our pupils. These pathways are tailored to pupil need, and you will help our pupils develop the qualities of our school values: Respect, Resilience, Confidence, Motivation, Aspiration and Integrity.

Your role will include teaching small classes (typically 6-12 pupils) with dedicated teaching assistant support, delivering engaging, creative lessons adapted to individual learning styles and complex needs, and using communication strategies to support pupils with communication difficulties. You will work closely with our new Assistant Headteacher of Primary and experienced colleagues to develop innovative approaches, collaborating with therapists, educational psychologists, and families. You will plan multisensory activities that challenge all pupils and encourage personal growth, contributing to our supportive and nurturing provision.

What We Are Looking For:

We are looking for candidates with Qualified Teacher Status preferably with experience teaching pupils with complex special educational needs. You should have a passion for teaching and learning that can be utilised to challenge all pupils, and the ability to motivate, inspire and stimulate curiosity, interest and enjoyment across all aspects of the primary curriculum.
