Reception Class Teacher

St Helen's Primary School · Ipswich · Suffolk

Job description

Are you a passionate, creative and forward thinking teacher?

Do you want to work in a school that is committed to giving all of its children the best start possible?

St Helen’s is a wonderfully inclusive school to work in. Based in the centre of the town we serve a rich and culturally diverse community that makes our school special in so many ways. We are always striving to improve the outcomes for our pupils and the school's motto is 'Striving for Excellence and Equality through Equity and Empowerment' an approach that Ofsted commented as being 'embedded throughout the schools culture'. Research underpins much of our work and we work collaboratively at school and Trust level to ensure all of our pupils have access to the best opportunities and teaching we can give. The staff work well together drawing upon each others strengths. Balancing wellbeing and workload is high on the schools agenda which is why we only employ those who fit the schools ethos and understand how to prioritise what is important.

St Helen's are looking to employ a teacher to help cover one of our lovely Reception Classes next year whilst their teacher is on Maternity Leave. Ideally we are looking for someone to work full time although a job share with no cross over is also a possibility.

We are keen to employ staff who understand the uniqueness of each child and someone who has the skills to unpick barriers to learning and enable pupils to feel proud of all of their achievements no matter how small the steps- building confidence and empowering young minds to become more than they thought possible.

We would like to encourage applicants to apply who:

  • have a proven record of excellence within an EYFS environment
  • are capable of modelling strong practice in the teaching, including deep knowledge of EYFS curriculum and changes
  • are committed to promoting and securing good progress and achievement for all
  • have a good knowledge of current research and strategies for improving health and wellbeing
  • have good interpersonal skills and the ability to support and develop skills in others
  • have the ability to engage and communicate effectively with all stakeholders
  • ability to develop academic and social skills in all learners

We can offer you:

  • a supportive school that listens to staff and supports each individual
  • the chance to be part of an inclusive school that balances wellbeing and learning for all
  • passionate and polite children.
  • weekly support and coaching from members of the school leadership team.

  • teaching and Learning and behaviour support from across the Trust.

  • a creative and reflective staff team

  • a network of support across fourteen ASSET schools and others in the area, including face to face collaboration including an Early Years 'Outstanding Setting' The Oaks who are working as a RISE Reception Network.

  • on-going professional development to further enhance your career

This post will be reporting directly to Kate Hodgetts, Executive Head of both schools.

For further details, or to arrange an initial discussion or visit with Kate Hodgetts, please contact the school directly

ASSET Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the amendments to the Exceptions Order 1975, 2013 and 2020/

The successful candidate will have to meet the requirements of the job description and will be subject to pre-employment checks including an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and children's barred list check, health check, online search and satisfactory references.
