RLT Fundraising Officer

River Learning Trust · Oxford · Oxfordshire

Job description

This is a hands-on role where you will have the opportunity to build your fundraising experience and make a

real contribution to the River Learning Trust’s (RLT) ability to increase funding for key educational priorities

and initiatives. You will also be helping to build the culture of philanthropy across the RLT community,

managing resources, administration, and communications across the network.

You will be pivotal in researching and applying for funding from grant-making bodies, and also supporting

the freelance fundraising consultant to build meaningful relationships with potential donors, local

businesses, and other stakeholder groups.

You will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day running and support of the Trust-wide CRM

fundraising database, Beacon, ensuring best practice, alongside developing, and supporting the user base

across the school network.

Working with our freelance fundraising consultant, and reporting into the Trust’s CFO, the medium- to long-

term goal is to ensure that the Trust continues to build a strong and dynamic fundraising community,

alongside increasing the amount of philanthropic income used to support important areas of educational

need.

What skills / experience are required

We’re looking for someone with at least one year’s experience in a fundraising role who is organised,

enthusiastic, and confident building relationships. We need someone who can work independently,

proactively, and to a high standard, but also enjoys working collaboratively with the rest of the team and

wider staff network. You need to understand and be demonstrably competent using a CRM database, and

other relevant software, as well as writing clear and engaging funding applications and communications.

What we can offer

You will have the opportunity to build your fundraising knowledge and skill-set, in a casual, yet supportive

environment, working alongside our experienced fundraising consultant, and other established fundraising

professionals across the network. The post-holder will be expected to develop and drive several important

projects over the medium- to long-term, and do so by working flexibly across the week, during term time.

Education has the power to change lives, communities, and society for the better. At RLT we believe that we

can achieve more for our pupils, trainees, staff, and communities by working together rather than alone.

Schools in RLT are united by a common belief in the benefits of working together, and by our commitment to

shared principles.

OUR VISION is for our schools and SCITT to improve rapidly, continuously, and sustainably: to be better

faster together.

OUR ‘WHY?’ is that children and young people ‘only get one go’ in school and therefore as part of RLT we

aim to ensure the best possible ‘go’ for our pupils.

OUR ‘HOW?’ is through the highest support and challenge for our schools and each other, underpinned by

our principles.

Our employees benefit from a wide variety of support including extensive continuing professional learning

and development opportunities, wellbeing and staff networks and access to Defined Benefit Pension

Schemes (TPS and LGPS) for all staff. ,For more information on what it is like to work for the Trust, and the

benefits you could access, please see our “Working in RLT” guide.

This role includes regulated activity relevant to children.
