Safeguarding Officer

Sir Thomas Fremantle School · Winslow · Buckinghamshire

Job description

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and highly organised Safeguarding Officer to join our safeguarding team. This is a rewarding opportunity to play a vital role in ensuring that every student feels safe, supported and able to thrive.
Working closely with the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy DSLs, you will manage the day-to-day operational safeguarding processes across the school. You will build strong relationships with students, families, colleagues and external agencies, helping to coordinate support and ensure that safeguarding concerns are identified and addressed effectively.
The successful candidate will review and manage safeguarding records, support multi-agency working, attend child protection meetings, coordinate referrals and maintain accurate, confidential documentation. You will also work directly with students and families, helping to remove barriers and secure the support they need.
We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with children or young people in a school, safeguarding, pastoral, family support, youth work or similar setting
  • Has a strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Is confident working with external agencies and professionals
  • Has excellent communication, organisation and record-keeping skills
  • Is empathetic, approachable and resilient
  • Can maintain confidentiality whilst managing sensitive information
  • Shares our commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Experience in safeguarding, family support, youth work, social care or a similar setting would be advantageous; however, we also welcome applications from candidates with transferable skills and a genuine commitment to supporting young people. Comprehensive training and ongoing professional development will be provided to the successful candidate.
