School Business Manager

Main purpose of the role

  • Lead the efficient and effective day-to-day delivery of the school's finance, business and operational functions.
  • Provide accurate financial information, strong budget monitoring and high-quality operational advice to the CFOO, Head of School and senior leaders.
  • Ensure that school-level financial processes, records and controls are accurate, timely, compliant and audit-ready.
  • Lead and develop relevant business support teams, promoting high standards of service, accountability and continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate key areas including finance administration, procurement, HR administration, payroll inputs, contracts, premises operations and business compliance.
  • Ensure that business services are aligned with the school's educational priorities and contribute positively to the experience of students, staff and families.
  • Translate Trust and school priorities into clear operational plans, systems, routines and service standards.
  • Provide visible, calm and solution-focused leadership across school business functions.
  • Contribute to leadership meetings and decision-making as required, bringing a clear understanding of resources, risk and operational implications.
  • Identify inefficiencies, risks and service gaps, recommending and implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Develop a strong culture of customer service, professional accountability and collaboration within business support teams.
  • Maintain effective relationships with external providers, contractors, professional advisers and partner organisations.
