Grade 5, 15 hours, 39 weeks (38 term time + 1 week during holidays)

£8,737 (Annual Actual)

Working pattern: 12.00pm-3.00pm, Monday - Friday

Grade 5, 10 hours, 39 weeks (38 term time + 1 week during holidays)

£5,825 (Annual Actual)

Working pattern: ,9.00-11.00am , Monday - Friday

A Learning Support Assistant will work under the direct supervision of a teacher to provide support for teaching and learning and associated activities in accordance with school policies and procedures. This will include supporting individuals on a 1:1 basis and providing general support for whole class learning activities or supporting small groups of pupils. We are looking for an Learn Support Assistant to join our dedicated school team. The successful candidate will play a key role in providing general classroom and specific support to our SEN pupils.

The SEN Admin Assistant will provide administrative support for the school SENCO ensuring that all communication and record keeping is carried out to a high standard with accuracy and timeliness to the fore.

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • Organised and reliable, with strong attention to detail.
  • A good communicator, both verbally and in writing.
  • Willing to learn and take on a variety of tasks.
  • Has experience of working with children.
  • Has a good level of literacy and numeracy.
  • Is patient, engaging, caring and creative.
  • Is able to work in a team.
  • Is be self-motivated.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
  • To provide agreed support to the teacher in the delivery of planned whole class learning activities.
  • To work under the direct supervision of a teacher to carry out planned learning activities with individual pupils or small groups, providing feedback on their engagement in activities and their achievement of the desired learning objectives.
  • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment in line with the teacher’s lesson plans.
  • To observe and feed back to the teacher on pupil performance and behaviour, taking action as appropriate in line with relevant school policies.
  • To support the physical, intellectual, emotional and social development of pupils, including contributing ideas and suggestions to support planning, to meet their development needs.
  • To interact with and respond positively to children, young people and adults.
  • To develop positive relationships with colleagues, providing consistent and effective support and working constructively as a member of the school staff team.
  • To support pupils to improve their numeracy and literacy skills through focused learning activities and more generally across the curriculum.
  • To prepare and utilise ICT resources to support pupils learning.
  • To assist with the management and recording of information and the directing of communications from external agencies and other schools (including email) in a timely manner and with a high degree of accuracy.
  • To assist with the maintaining of student recording systems for students with SEN, ensuring paper based and computerised systems are utilised in accordance with academy policies and practices.
  • To filter and prioritise phone calls and allocate to members of the team as necessary.
  • Preparation of SEN student files for transfer.
  • Coordinating parent meetings for the SENCO. Typing up meeting minutes for the SENCO.

Essential Qualifications:

  • NVQ 2 level qualification, or equivalent or able to demonstrate the ability to meet the STL Level 2 National Occupational Standards relevant to this post.
