St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy · Dewsbury · Kirklees

Job description

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy

SENDCo (Any Specialism) - MPS/UPS + TLR

The successful candidate will ideally commence on 1 January 2027, although an earlier start date would be welcomed if available.

Are you a passionate and ambitious SENDCo who places students at the heart of everything you do? We invite applications from teachers who share our vision for delivering a high-quality education and are ready to take the next steps in their career, leading and developing SEND provision across the Academy.

This is an exciting opportunity for the right candidate to join and further develop the SEND provision at St John Fisher. As SENDCo, you will play a key role in ensuring that all students with additional needs receive the support, challenge and opportunities they need to thrive. You will be an outstanding classroom practitioner who can demonstrate a track record of raising standards and, importantly, inspire young people to be confident, resilient and ambitious in their learning.

You will have high expectations for our young people, staff and wider community, underpinned by our Catholic ethos and values.

St John Fisher Catholic Voluntary Academy is an 11-18 school serving its local community.

As part of our commitment to inclusion and excellence, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to further shape and develop our SEND provision, working closely with Academy and Trust leaders to ensure that every student achieves their full potential. We welcome applications from experienced SEND practitioners as well as those looking to undertake the National Professional Qualification for SEND Leadership.

If you want to work in an Academy where you can make a real difference to young people's life chances, whilst working within a supportive and collaborative environment, then this post is ideal for you. In return you will be supported and encouraged to develop further and enjoy a long and rewarding career.

We are looking for someone who:

Has vision, energy and enthusiasm for inclusive education and SEND provision
Is proactive, innovative and focused on improving outcomes for all students
Is an inspirational and ambitious practitioner with strong knowledge of SEND legislation and best practice
Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Has a proven track record of delivering high-quality outcomes for young people
Is an advocate of partnership working and wider school/community engagement
Is a highly effective classroom practitioner with high expectations of all learners
Has the ability to work effectively with students, families, external agencies and colleagues to remove barriers to learning
Has a commitment to ensuring that every young person can access, participate in and enjoy all aspects of school life

In return we can offer:

The opportunity to work in a rapidly improving Academy with a committed staff team
A dynamic and thriving student body who deserve the very best
A supportive and collaborative working environment
Excellent career opportunities and access to a comprehensive programme of professional learning and development
Support in undertaking the National Professional Qualification for SEND Leadership, where appropriate
A commitment to your ongoing professional development
