Surbiton Hill Nursery School is a welcoming and inclusive maintained nursery school located in Surbiton, Surrey. We are committed to providing an excellent education for all our children, including those with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). We are currently seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator (SENDCo) to join our team.
Role Overview:
As SENDCo at Surbiton Hill Nursery School, you will play a key role in supporting children with additional needs to achieve their full potential. You will work closely with teachers, parents, and external agencies to ensure that appropriate support is in place for every pupil requiring it.
Skills and Qualifications:
- A strong commitment to supporting children with special educational needs
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team
- Organised approach to managing multiple tasks
- Willingness to learn about SEND legislation, assessment processes, and intervention strategies
Values and Attitudes:
- Empathy towards pupils facing challenges in learning or development
- Patience and resilience when working through complex situations
- Positive attitude towards inclusion within mainstream education settings
- Commitment to ongoing professional development
- Respectful approach when liaising with families from diverse backgrounds
