Senior Learning Mentor

Queensbury School · Birmingham · Birmingham

Job description

Education Impact Academy Trust is a thriving Multi Academy Trust in North Birmingham, incorporating Wilson Stuart School, Mayfield School, Queensbury School, The Hive College, Lime Tree Nursery and Blue Sky Nursery. We work collaboratively to deliver outstanding provision for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities. Our shared ethos is “Better Never Ends”.

“These are exciting times at Queensbury School. Caring staff, an ambitious curriculum and new buildings are all driving improvements for pupils. Leaders aim to help pupils ‘unleash their limitless potential’. Staff, parents, carers and pupils are united in making this vision a reality.”

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated and experienced Senior Learning Mentor to join our Pastoral Team. This key role will support the continued growth of the school.

As part of this role, you will:

  • Lead and develop targeted programmes to support improvements in attendance, achievement and student engagement
  • Deliver and co-ordinate effective whole-school and targeted interventions for individuals and groups
  • Provide guidance and support that positively impacts students’ self-esteem, wellbeing and readiness to learn
  • Work collaboratively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and leadership to remove barriers to learning
  • Engage proactively with parents, carers and external agencies to provide holistic support for young people

About You

The successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • A proven track record of developing and delivering successful intervention programmes
  • Experience of working across a whole-school approach as well as with targeted groups and individuals
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with students, families, staff and external professionals
  • High levels of resilience, patience and emotional intelligence, particularly when working with students who may present with complex needs or behaviours
  • A genuine passion for working with young people and a commitment to improving outcomes for those from diverse ethnic and social backgrounds
  • A clear commitment to inclusion and removing barriers to learning

We are the only Trust to provide SEN Allowances to ALL roles who work with students, including Teachers, TA’s, Care Assistants, Pastoral Care, Guides and Drivers.

If you are determined, hardworking and think that working at our Trust might be for you, then we would love to hear from you.
