Senior Teaching Assistant- 2 Days per week

Polden Bower, is a 160 place special school and has the specialist resources needed to meet the needs of our students. state-of-the-art facilities for all the children and young people, this includes a warm water pool for physiotherapy; a sports hall; a sensory room; and fully accessible classrooms with the latest teaching technology.

Bower Learning Partnership is a Federation of 2 special schools; Polden Bower School in Bridgwater, Avalon School in Street. The partnership works closely with the Pupil Referral Units in Somerset as part of its leadership work. Being part of a partnership, provides opportunities for staff to gain wider professional learning opportunities.

We are looking for a talented senior teaching assistant to join our growing team of staff. 12.5 Hours per week 39 weeks per year( Term time plus INSET days). Term time days and hours of work: Thursday and Friday 08.45am-3.30pm. Grade 13 actual gross salary £7,766- £8,410 dependent on experience.

We are looking for someone who can:

• Provide mentoring for new support staff
• Provide a professional role model for other staff
• To support the admin roles of the class teacher in terms of
• o Keeping pupil files up to date
• o Ensuring that resources are prepared and ready for learning
• o To be the first point of call in their absence
• 
  
• To teach groups under the direction of the class teacher
• To teach the whole class, short term in the absence of the class teacher
• To plan and prepare lessons for groups you are teaching
• To deliver training to other staff within the federation
