Parkside Community Primary School is a friendly, inclusive and welcoming school at the heart of the Borehamwood community. We are looking to appoint a dedicated and proactive Caretaker/Site Manager to join our team and take responsibility for the upkeep, security and presentation of our school site. Our school prides itself on promoting kindness, resilience and inclusion, and we are seeking someone who will share these values and take real pride in maintaining our learning environment.
This is a varied and rewarding role, offering the opportunity to make a genuine difference to the day-to-day experience of our pupils, staff and visitors. No two days are the same, and the successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring our school remains safe, secure and well maintained.
The Role
Hours: 37 hours per week
Monday 7:30 - 11:00 and 14:30 - 18:00
Tuesday - Friday 7:30 - 11:30 and 14:30 - 18:00
Responsibilities will include:
Maintaining the school buildings and grounds to a high standard.
Undertaking general repairs, maintenance and decoration.
Ensuring the security of the site, including opening and closing the school as required.
Supporting the school's health and safety compliance, including maintaining records and completing routine checks.
Monitoring and checking deliveries.
Carrying out a range of cleaning and caretaking duties.
Liaising with contractors and supporting site projects.
Responding to occasional out-of-hours emergencies and supporting school lettings arrangements (overtime payable).
The role involves some manual handling and lifting, so applicants should be physically fit and able to work across our spacious school site.
About You
We are looking for someone who:
Is practical, organised and self-motivated.
Can work independently and use their own initiative.
Has good interpersonal and communication skills.
Is confident using ICT systems or is willing to learn (full training will be provided).
Takes pride in their work and has a keen eye for detail.
Has a flexible and positive approach, coupled with a good sense of humour.
Enjoys being part of a supportive school community.
Occasional use of a personal vehicle may be required; mileage expenses will be reimbursed.
