Specialist Curriculum Leader

Parkside School · Bradford · Bradford

Job description

Join Our Team at Parkside School!

Are you an enthusiastic and passionate educator dedicated to helping every student succeed? Parkside School is seeking an inspiring colleague for the newly created position of Specialist Curriculum Leader.

In this vital role, you will shape, lead and evolve our Specialist Curriculum provision and learning spaces. Working alongside senior colleagues, Key Stage teams and the SENCO you will identify and break down barriers to learning, attendance and good behaviour for students requiring additional support to access mainstream schooling. You will design personalised curriculum pathways that re-engage students, build routine and improve overall well-being in a positive learning environment.

As a key member of our Extended Leadership Team, you will line manage departmental staff, oversee off-site alternative provisions and serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL).

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Shape, deliver and coordinate the intent, implementation and quality assurance of the Specialist Curriculum provisions and spaces.

  • Personalised Pathways: Plan, deliver and track personalised curriculum pathways alongside short, medium and long term action plans for identified students.

  • Re-Integration & Transitions: Lead the successful re-integration of students back into mainstream lessons or when returning from external alternative provisions.

  • Team Management: Line manage, support and develop teaching, non-teaching and associate staff within the department.

  • Collaboration & External Partnerships: Liaise closely with SLT, the SENCO, pastoral staff, families and external agencies to ensure robust wraparound care and support.

  • Safeguarding & Coaching: Serve as a Designated Safeguarding Lead as part of the school's Safeguarding Team and act as a coach for a small group of students.

Who We Are Looking For

  • Experience: Proven track record of managing students with SEMH profiles or challenging behaviour, working with 11-16 age groups and demonstrating impact in improving student outcomes.

  • Knowledge: Operational knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice, statutory documents, and how pastoral systems drive academic success.

  • Leadership & Skills: Excellent communication, strong leadership, data-analysis skills, high integrity and the ability to hold staff to account while supporting their professional development.

  • Qualifications & Training: GCSE (or equivalent) C/4+ in English and Maths, Safeguarding Training (DSL level, or willingness to achieve this immediately upon appointment).

  • Personal Attributes: A passionate belief in every student's ability to achieve, strong organisational skills, high resilience, and a good sense of humour!
