SRP Teaching Assistant

St. Edmund's Church of England Primary School · Sevenoaks · Kent

Job description

Our new Specialist Resource Provisions are designed to meet the needs of pupils with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) where the primary needs are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).

We are seeking a caring, committed and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our Specialist Resource Provision. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a new and inclusive educational setting from the very beginning, helping to shape provision, build positive relationships and make a lasting difference to the lives of children with additional needs.

Working alongside the Specialist Teacher and wider school team, you will play a key role in supporting pupils to develop their communication, independence, confidence and academic skills within a nurturing and highly supportive environment.

In this rewarding role, you will be expected to:

  • Support the delivery of high-quality learning experiences and interventions for children with an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) whose primary needs are Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN).
  • Work closely with the Specialist Teacher and wider school staff to ensure pupils are fully included in school life and can access meaningful opportunities alongside their mainstream peers.
  • Support pupils with communication, social interaction, emotional regulation, sensory needs and independence skills, using agreed strategies and approaches.
  • Assist in the preparation and adaptation of learning resources and environments to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Contribute to the monitoring of pupil progress and wellbeing, maintaining accurate records where required.
  • Foster positive relationships with pupils, families and external professionals to support the best possible outcomes for every child.
  • Promote and uphold the school's safeguarding, behaviour and inclusion policies at all times.

Our provision offers a warm, child-centred environment with a strong emphasis on communication, independence and holistic development. We are committed to ensuring every child is known, valued and supported to flourish.

If you are passionate about making a difference and helping children overcome barriers to learning, we would love to hear from you. Join us in shaping a learning community where every child can succeed.#

We welcome applications from candidates seeking either full-time or part-time employment. Whilst our preference is to appoint a full-time member of staff, we recognise the value that flexible working can bring and will consider part-time applications where this enables us to create an effective staffing structure within the Specialist Resource Provision.

Rise to the moment - help shape a child's future.

Early application is encouraged as we may close this vacancy before the closing date if we find a suitable candidate.

Due to safer recruitment requirements, CVs will not be accepted. Applications via MyNewTerm must be submitted.

References will be requested for all shortlisted applicants before interview.

In line with KCSIE 2025 guidance, as part of the shortlisting process, the Trust will conduct an online search on shortlisted candidates as part of our due diligence. Any relevant information identified regarding a candidate's suitability to work with children will be shared with the Chair of the Interview Panel and discussed at interview where appropriate.
