Chiltern Way Academy Wokingham is a co-educational specialist academy for pupils aged 8-16 with a primary diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC). We are seeking a dedicated and resilient Support Manager to join our team.
About the RoleThis is a key role within our support team, where you will take an active lead in managing the behaviour and wellbeing of students with Social, Emotional, Communication and Interaction Difficulties (SECID). Working closely with the Support Team Lead, you will implement behavioural strategies, support staff, and ensure consistent, effective communication across the school.
Key Responsibilities- Lead on the day-to-day management of student behaviour
- Support the implementation of behaviour interventions and safeguarding practices
- Build strong, supportive relationships with pupils, families, staff and external agencies
- Act as a positive role model, promoting fairness, boundaries and respect
- Use de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations safely and effectively
- Maintain accurate records and contribute to behaviour monitoring and reporting systems
- Support team development and promote best practice across the school
- Experience working with young people with additional needs, particularly ASC or behavioural challenges
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage complex situations calmly
- Resilience, empathy and a genuine commitment to supporting young people
- Knowledge of behaviour management strategies and interventions
- A proactive team player with a positive and adaptable approach
