At Dyke House Academy we don’t just teach science—we inspire the next generation of innovators, thinkers, and problem solvers. We are seeking an enthusiastic, curious, and dedicated Teacher of Science to join our vibrant and supportive department.

Being a science teacher is unique because it’s one of the few subjects where you regularly get to pivot from abstract theory to explosive, hands-on reality. You aren't just teaching a syllabus; you are teaching a way of looking at the universe

Whether your passion lies in the intricacies of Biology, the reactions of Chemistry, or the laws of Physics, we want your expertise to help our students uncover how the world works.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Inspiring Pupils:Establish a safe, stimulating, and mutually respectful environment that stretches and challenges students of all backgrounds.
  • Driving Progress:Take accountability for pupils’ attainment and plan lessons built on their prior knowledge and capabilities.
  • Delivering Quality Lessons:Plan and teach well-structured lessons that maximize lesson time and incorporate constructive homework.
  • Adapting to All Learners:Know how to differentiate appropriately to support pupils with special educational needs, high ability, disabilities, or English as an additional language.
  • Effective Assessment:Use formative and summative data to monitor progress, give regular feedback, and guide pupils' next steps.
  • Classroom Management:Maintain clear rules, routines, and high expectations for behaviour using fair praise, rewards, and sanctions.

What We Are Looking For

The successful candidate will be an exceptional role model who demonstrates a professional image and aligns with our high standards.

You will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Secure subject and curriculum knowledge to address misunderstandings and promote scholarship.
  • Practice that is consistently aligned with the national Teaching Standards.
  • High standards of personal and professional conduct, upholding public trust and safeguarding student well-being.
  • Excellent communication skills to build professional relationships with colleagues and effectively engage with parents and carers.
  • Absolute commitment to adhering to GDPR, data protection, and confidentiality regulations.
