Teacher of Business and Economics

1.00fte

Required from September 2026

We are looking to appoint an inspiring and outstanding classroom practitioner to join our Business and Economics Department here at Myton; we are looking for someone who is ambitious and able to share their enthusiasm and passion for Business and Economics with all their students and colleagues.

We are a well-established, experienced, and highly regarded department within the school. Our passion for the dynamic world of business and economics drives us to integrate the most up-to-date news stories into our teaching, ensuring that learning remains relevant and engaging. We are committed to the success of every student, firmly believing that all children can achieve with the right support. As a hard-working and dedicated team, we take pride in providing individualised feedback and adapting our lessons to meet the evolving needs of our students, who represent a diverse cross-section of our local community.

Reflective in our practice, we share core values of lifelong learning, a growth mindset, and continuous improvement. Our teaching approach is aspirational and focused on fostering a culture of curiosity, resilience, and high achievement.

Facilities & Resources

Our department is well-equipped with modern facilities to support high-quality teaching and learning. We have three designated business classrooms, including a full computer suite, allowing students to engage in interactive and technology-enhanced learning. Additionally, our two traditional classrooms are supplemented with breakout PCs and corridor workstations, enabling individualised and adaptive teaching approaches.

We are committed to incorporating real-world case studies, contemporary news, and geopolitical events into our lessons, ensuring that students see the relevance of business and economics in their daily lives. As we often say, "When will economics get boring again?"—a nod to its ever-present role in shaping global affairs.

Our Philosophy

We believe in equipping students with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to make informed decisions that enhance the performance and potential of businesses and economies. Our core teaching philosophy includes:

  • Embedding metacognition and end-point language to enable students to articulate what they are learning, their strengths and weaknesses, and how to improve.
  • Encouraging independent thought, critical analysis, and problem-solving skills to prepare students for lifelong success.
  • Implementing innovative teaching methodologies, including AI tools, scaffolding techniques, and high-quality feedback, to support differentiated learning.
  • Promoting a love for lifelong learning, ensuring that students leave our department with a passion for business and economics that extends beyond the classroom.

Our Achievements

Our department has a strong track record of success, with students consistently developing the skills and confidence needed to thrive in business and economics. While exam performance is an important measure, we focus on equipping students with real-world knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and resilience—qualities that will serve them well in higher education and future careers.

At KS4, we have seen many students rise to the challenge, demonstrating a strong understanding of key business and economic concepts. While we always strive for even higher results, our commitment to reflective practice ensures that we continuously refine our teaching strategies to unlock every student's full potential.

At KS5, our business students have performed well, achieving solid grades and building a deep understanding of business strategy, finance, and entrepreneurship. Our economics students have engaged with complex economic theories, learning to apply them to current global events. We are proud of our students' growth, and we are dedicated to supporting them in overcoming challenges, adapting to changes in assessment frameworks, and becoming confident, capable individuals ready to make their mark on the world.

Beyond results, our success is evident in the enthusiasm and ambition of our students. Many go on to study business, economics, and finance-related degrees at top universities, while others embark on entrepreneurial ventures or apprenticeships, inspired by their time with us. Our department is constantly evolving, and we remain committed to delivering an outstanding learning experience that fosters curiosity, ambition, and real-world success.

The Curriculum

We offer a broad and engaging curriculum designed to provide students with a competitive edge:

  • A Level Business (AQA)
  • A Level Economics (AQA)
  • GCSE Business (Edexcel 1-9)
  • GCSE Economics (AQA)

The introduction of AQA GCSE Economics allows our students to develop a deeper understanding of economic principles, a rare opportunity in state schools. We continually refine our schemes of learning to ensure our students gain the best possible experience and preparation for further education and careers.

Why Join Us?

We are looking for a motivated and ambitious individual who is passionate about business and economics education. The ideal candidate will:

  • Share our enthusiasm for integrating real-world news into teaching.
  • Be eager to develop and enhance our extra-curricular provision by organising school visits and guest speaker events.
  • Have a commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.
  • Embrace innovative teaching methods and a growth mindset to inspire students.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a thriving department that values teamwork, creativity, and a shared vision of excellence. We look forward to welcoming a new member who will contribute to our ongoing success and make a lasting impact on our students.

In short, we are a popular, high performing school with academy status, situated between Warwick and Leamington Spa with a strong community spirit. Our staff offer students a massive range of extra-curricular opportunities in addition to a wide curriculum and we would be delighted to expand this further if you have additional time and talents to share.

You will have access to a range of personal and professional development opportunities plus Westfield Health benefits and Staff Wellbeing initiatives to support you along the way.

We encourage applications from ECTs looking to secure a role after training and we can provide outstanding induction and support from our strong team of mentors and our well established training programmes.
