Teacher of Design and Technology

Chatham Grammar · Chatham · Medway

Job description

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Design Technology to join our successful team at Chatham Grammar. This is an exciting opportunity to inspire students through a broad and engaging Design Technology curriculum, helping them to develop creativity, problem-solving skills, technical knowledge and confidence through both practical and theoretical learning.

Whether you are an Early Career Teacher or an experienced practitioner looking for your next challenge, you will find a supportive environment where professional growth is valued and encouraged. At Chatham Grammar, we believe great teaching transforms lives, and we are committed to creating the conditions for teachers to do what they do best: inspire young people and help them achieve their full potential.

As a member of our Design Technology department, you will deliver high-quality lessons that challenge, engage and motivate students across Key Stages 3 and 4, with opportunities to contribute to Key Stage 5 where appropriate. You will foster curiosity, innovation and independent thinking, supporting students to develop the knowledge and skills they need for future study and careers. Working alongside dedicated colleagues, you will play an important role in the continued development of the department and contribute to the wider life of the school. Most importantly, you will be a positive role model who makes a lasting difference to the lives of young people.

Why join UKAT?

We are committed to supporting the wellbeing, development and success of our staff. As part of our team, you will benefit from:

  • Benenden Healthcare membership.
  • Free access to wellbeing, health and counselling services.
  • Free on-site parking and discounted electric vehicle charging.
  • Access to our on-site gym facilities.
  • Staff Thrive Days in addition to scheduled professional development days.
  • Tailored professional learning pathways and trust-wide career opportunities via the UKAT Institute.
  • Eye care and hearing care vouchers.
  • Free annual flu vaccinations.
  • Relocation packages for eligible candidates.
  • Interest-free loans and travel loans.
  • Excellent transport links, with London and the wider South East within easy reach, or the opportunity to benefit from the Cycle to Work scheme through UKAT.

Located in Medway, Kent, Chatham Grammar is a high-performing and inclusive school with a strong academic tradition and ambitious aspirations for every student. We welcome applications from colleagues at all stages of their careers who share our commitment to delivering an exceptional education and enriching opportunities for all learners.

The start date for this role is January, however an earlier start date may be considered.

UKAT is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS and safeguarding checks.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than the advertised closing date should a suitable field of applicants be received.

The University of Kent Academies Trust is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expects all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. Applicants will be required to undergo child protection screening appropriate to the post, including checks with past employers and the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). In addition, the Trust will carry out an online search, once, as part of our due diligence on shortlisted candidates. This is intended to help us identify any incidents or issues that have happened and are publicly available online. The selection panel will then explore such items with the candidate during interview. The Trust’s HR Team or another member of staff trained in safer recruitment, will use Google.com to conduct each search and no adverse judgement will be formed for applicants with limited or no online footprint
