Teacher of Food Technology

The Bishop of Winchester Academy · Bournemouth · Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole

Job description

We are seeking a talented and enthusiastic Food Technology Teacher to join a dedicated Expressive Arts department and create an environment where students explore and develop a lifelong love of culinary skills.

We can offer you the opportunity to deliver theory and practical lessons where you will inspire students to appreciate nutrition and culinary techniques that cover a range of food technology topics and concepts. Whatever your career stage, you will be supported to develop further knowledge and to enhance your teaching tool kit, so that our students are able to excel in all aspects of their educational journey. We welcome applications from all teachers including ECTs. So, whether you are looking to reinvigorate your engagement with the profession, or you are new to teaching and want to develop your talent, this is the ideal role and environment for you.

As a standalone academy, we believe in our teachers being able to do the role they are employed to do, which is to deliver engaging lessons to our students. We therefore have an easy and structured behaviour system for our students and you to follow in lessons. After this, we have dedicated teams who intervene and leave you to continue with the job you love doing

As Teacher of Food Technology, you will be welcomed into an experienced team of creative professionals to:

Play a fundamental role in progressing the Expressive Arts department to the next stage in its development and even greater success

Plan and deliver high quality and engaging lessons that will challenge students and inspire progression

Encourage our students to have high expectations of themselves and their behaviour

Engage students in study at GCSE

Be a positive role model and supportive mentor to students, making a lasting impact on their lives

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is a thriving Church of England school, recently recognised by Ofsted as prioritising ‘wider opportunities alongside achievement so that pupils “live life to the full.”’ (Ofsted 2023). Operating from recently refurbished facilities, our shared mission to improve the life chances of all of our students is at the very centre of our work.

We put the welfare of our staff at the heart of everything we do and can offer you:

Generous employer pension contribution at 28.6% basic salary

Early Friday finish at 1:00pm

Supportive and practical marking policy

Career development with a bespoke CPD programme

Excellent newly refurbished teaching facilities with free onsite parking and good local public transport links

Employee Assistance Programme and Cycle to Work scheme

Close proximity to beaches and the Jurassic Coast to assist your work life balance

The Bishop of Winchester Academy is an equal opportunities employer and welcomes applications from all suitably qualified candidates. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and expect all staff to share this commitment. An enhanced DBS check is required for all successful applicants.

Please be aware that due to the ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’ legislation we do not accept CV’s.

We reserve the right to close a vacancy earlier than an advertised date if we have received applications that meet the criteria.
