Job Title: Teacher of Maths  

Salary: £32,916 - £37101 (M1-M3) 

Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract until 18 December 2026 (maternity cover)

Hours: Full-time, 32.5 hours per week  

Provisional Start Date: As soon as possible - pending completion of pre-employment checks

We are seeking an inspirational Teacher of Maths with a passion for outstanding teaching and meaningful learning experiences to join our team at Hanham Woods Academy on a fixed term contract. Through your subject expertise, you will deliver a high-quality Mathematics curriculum that develops students’ confidence, numerical fluency and problem-solving skills, while helping them understand the relevance of Maths in the wider world.

About you 

You will be: 

  • A qualified teacher, or hold an equivalent teaching qualification, with strong subject knowledge in Mathematics. 
  • Confident in delivering the Mathematics curriculum across relevant key stages, designing and teaching high-quality lessons that promote reasoning, challenge, and a genuine enjoyment of Maths. 
  • Skilled in meeting the needs of learners from identified groups, including pupil premium, looked after children, SEND, EAL and high attaining students, ensuring all pupils are supported, challenged and able to succeed within the Maths curriculum. 
  • A strong communicator who embraces change, motivates colleagues and builds positive, supportive relationships with students, staff and parents. 
  • Committed to recognising and supporting learning opportunities beyond the classroom, contributing to enrichment activities such as problem solving challenges, Maths clubs, competitions, intervention programmes or cross curricular projects that deepen students’ understanding and engagement with Mathematics. 
  • Empowered to develop your own expert practice while supporting collaboration, consistency and innovation within the Maths department and the wider academy. 

About  Hanham Woods Academy:  

Hanham Woods Academy is a secondary school located within the outskirts of Bristol and South Gloucestershire, delivering education to pupils aged 11-16. It is one of the most improved academies in the South West, providing an excellent education to over 800 students. The academy has a growing reputation both locally and regionally.
