Information about the position
As a girls’ school, we work hard to promote the value of STEM subjects andconsequentlyScience is a very
popular subject across our school community. We are keen to recruit a teacher to join our Science Department who can support our students at GCSE and A Level.
In Key Stage 4 we offer both separate and combined pathways for GCSE students and at Key Stage 5 we deliver A-level Biology, Chemistry and Physics as well as currently offering Applied Science BTEC.
The department’s results are consistently strong and continue to improve year on year with 100% ofstudents receiving grade 5 and above in separate sciences, 63% achieving grade 4 and above in combinedscience and 70% achieving grade 4 and above inscienceoverall. Over 75% of separate students achievedgrades 9-7 across the three sciences.
A large number ofour A level and BTECstudents’progress intoscience-basedpathways at University such as Midwifery, Medicine, Neuroscience, Physics and Astronomy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Biomedical Science.
We are looking to recruit a full time /part timeTeacher of Science, ideally with A level Chemistry andpreferably some BTEC applied science experience, who will join a highly skilled,energeticand passionate team, teaching across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5.
The successful candidate will be confident to deliver Biology, Chemistry and Physics content in Key Stages 3and 4 and will ideally have the subject knowledge to deliver their specialism at Key Stage 5. They will be astudent-centredteacher who is dedicated and will build positive relationships with our amazing young people so that they can inspire a love of learning and a passion forScienceboth in and outside of the classroom.
