Job description

We are offering a unique and exciting opportunity for a dynamic, highly motivated, and fully qualified Teacher of the Deaf to work two days each week (0.4fte) (actual days to be discussed).

The ability to develop deaf children’s speech, language, listening and communications skills are essential. The successful candidate will also be able to use audiological equipment effectively and have excellent communication skills, including BSL level 2 or equivalent.

Successful candidates will be able to:

  • A commitment to the academic progress and emotional well-being of all students within the provision.
  • A commitment to ensuring the Hearing Support provision meets Quality Standards as set by the Local Authority.
  • Ability to work in partnership with class teachers and other staff to plan and deliver effective curriculum, including Deaf Awareness and classroom strategies to meet specific needs.
  • Ability to provide professional development for all staff working with Deaf and Hearing Impaired students.
  • Ability to uphold ambitious educational standards which prepare deaf and hearing impaired pupils for their next phase of education and life
  • Help to further improve positive and respectful relationships by embedding deaf awareness and an inclusive environment across the school community

Salary for this position is on the Teachers Main Pay Scale (starting point is subject to relevant experience) plus SEN allowance and TLR2.
