Teaching and Learning Assistant

Howitt Primary Community School · Heanor · Derbyshire

Job description

We’re looking for a Teaching Assistant to join the team at Howitt Primary Community School where every child is seen, known, and valued. Whether you’ve worked in schools, youth work, care, or another setting — if you connect well with young people and believe in inclusion, we want to hear from you.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is emotionally intelligent, positive and proactive. You’ll work alongside our experienced team to support pupils’ learning, wellbeing and development, helping create a classroom where all children feel safe, supported and inspired.

About You

You don’t need to have worked in a school before. If you’re passionate about helping children succeed, love working as part of a team, and have the confidence to build strong relationships with pupils, this could be the perfect next step for you.

We’re looking for someone who:

  • Connects easily and positively with children

  • Is calm, flexible and compassionate

  • Can work closely with teachers and colleagues to deliver excellent support

  • Is willing to learn and grow with us

We don’t just talk about development — we make it happen. Through high-quality training, mentoring, and learning networks across the trust, we’ll help you grow your confidence, your skills, and your career.
